Join us in celebrating the revolutionaries who shape our spaces and our futures. This Women’s Day, we shine a spotlight on the remarkable women in interior design, our partners at finemake, who are expanding the definition of 'homemaker.'

Fasana Alisha Caesar, Founder & Principal Designer, The Zen Theory

After graduating from IHM Bangalore, Alisha secured her first job at JLL, a facilities management company. Assigned to projects like landscaping and basic interiors for expatriate penthouses, her exceptional work caught the eye of her senior manager, who recognized her innate talent and suggested she consider pursuing it full-time.

After obtaining her MBA from IIM Calcutta, she founded her own landscaping firm. One notable project led to another, gradually expanding her scope from landscaping to interior design. The success of her work caught the attention of influential clients, leading to the establishment of her interior design brand, The Zen Theory . For Alisha, the ultimate reward lies in delivering a dream home where clients will create lasting memories.

Alisha attributes much of her success to her hands-on experience gained during her tenure at JLL, emphasizing the invaluable lessons learned on-site. She underscores the importance of real-world experience over academic knowledge in this field.

She encourages aspiring female interior designers to seek on-site experience, persevere through challenges, and never underestimate their capabilities.

We are honored to collaborate with Alisha, a trailblazing entrepreneur, as she continues to grow in the world of interior design.

Jyoti Sharma, Founder, Studio Blue Owl

Jyoti's journey into the world of interior design began with an architectural degree and her early career in small architecture firms. However, it was her project designing the personal home of Former Solicitor General, Harish Salve, while working with L&T Construction that ignited her true passion for interior design. Her career took a pivotal turn where she transitioned to interior design, undertaking ambitious projects including airport interiors, and the design of 700 luxury homes in a prestigious society.

Fueled by confidence, Jyoti launched Studio Blue Owl Designs. Despite initial challenges, she now has her pick of projects, renowned for their minimalist, boho, and Japandi-style designs. Jyoti enjoys the uniqueness of each project, striving to fulfill her clients' wishes within budget constraints and ensuring lasting durability for their homes.

Jyoti shares an empowering message with aspiring female interior designers: "Believe in yourself and enjoy the journey." She highlights interior design as an ideal field for women, offering a balance between professional and personal life and serving as a creative outlet. Delivering a client's dream home brings her indescribable joy and satisfaction.

We are thrilled to partner with Jyoti, a true force in the interior design world, and look forward to witnessing her business soar to new heights.

Ayesha Khatibm Co-Founder, SF Design Studio

Ayesha was always interested in architecture, but there were no colleges available in her hometown to pursue her passion. Instead, she pursued engineering, yet her love for design remained strong. After completing her degree, she enrolled in a diploma program in interior design. Shortly after, she secured a freelance opportunity at an architecture firm. Over the span of four years, she worked on various projects, including overseeing the interiors of a hotel in Dubai and a project in Sri Lanka. At the client's request, she also led the team in designing a hospital in Indonesia.

However, life threw Ayesha a curveball when the firm closed its doors, coinciding with her transition to another company and the onset of motherhood. The company let her go from her job citing her pregnancy as the reason.

8 months pregnant, Ayesha and her husband decided to take control of their careers and started SF Design Studio. Today, Ayesha is successfully running her business with her 1 year old daughter, Mohammadi, by her side. She also says she’s starting to see the creative flair in Mohammadi! Like mother, like daughter!

Ayesha sees interior design as a sanctuary for Indian women, providing an avenue to pursue a fulfilling career without sacrificing personal responsibilities. She says “you don’t need to give up one for the other.”

To aspiring female interior designers, she says “be patient, work with enthusiasm, everything will eventually fall in place.” Ayesha is a testament to this mantra.

We are humbled to partner with Ayesha, a woman of determination, and eagerly anticipate witnessing the growth of both their creative company and their baby to their full potential!
